By Kim Hunt, PARMA President

The dust from the 2016 PARMAwood conference has settled and many of our 2015/2016 initiatives are well under way, this quarterly newsletter being one of them.

Before I share more about the initiatives, I would like to thank everyone who made our conference an overwhelming success. Attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and staff, thank you for taking a chance on Indian Wells and for all you contribute to the success of PARMA!

What will risk management look like in 5-10 years?  What are the common skills and responsibilities of our members? What will PARMA do to adapt to the challenges of our profession?  These are just a few of the questions that PARMA is constantly exploring and addressing.

Early in our strategic planning and implementation process it was clear that in order for PARMA to grow and adapt, we needed to strengthen our foundation in a way that allows our leadership to focus on the big picture. The first big step in this direction was hiring an Executive Director.

Second, PARMA identified key areas of concentration such as professional development, education delivery systems, member resources, communications and professional outreach efforts.

The PARMA educational committee has since produced the first of more to come webinars and is in the beginning stages of developing Risk Management Bootcamp for new risk managers.  Stay tuned for more to come!

Soon to be released, A Member Resource Portal which will be accessible via the PARMA website.  The portal will connect members with people and content relevant to their specific risk management focus.

The Outreach Committee and Chapter Leaders are working together to develop PARMA’s relations with students in hopes of bridging connections with tomorrow’s risk managers.  Additionally, the Committee worked on connecting with Risk Managers new to PARMA during the Annual Conference.

PARMA knows that communication is key to adding value to your membership.  In 2015, PARMA embarked on a multi-level communications campaign that includes not only this e-newsletter, but increased e-marketing of local educational and career opportunities.  If you haven’t started following us on Facebook or LinkedIn then you are missing out! PARMA posts relevant news feeds daily and LinkedIn is a great way to connect with your peers.

Let us know how we are doing!  PARMA is committed to bringing you more resources and welcomes your input on what support and knowledge is needed to advance your risk management programs.
