community

PARMA has been working to provide tools and resources for the Risk Management Community for 40 years.  Over time, things have changed from a small band of risk managers to an organization with over 1000 member contacts.  In that time, technology too has changed which has given us the ability to create an online hub that will put you in touch with people specifically in your field.  It is called PARMACommunity and can be found here: http://parma.mymemberfuse.com or by clicking on the link at the top of www.PARMA.com.  You will need your user name (email address) and password.  If you do not know or cannot remember your password there is a link to reset your password directly below the login fields.

I know you are all saying “Well, I use LinkedIn and Facebook, why do I need to be part of another social media network?”  The answer to that is very easy – PARMACommunity is JUST FOR YOU.  It is a place to find a mentor, post questions about your job that only people who understand what your work entails can answer, find new vendors without being inundated by advertisements or people trying to sell you something you actually don’t need.  It is for the community, by the community.

The Community is a place to find not only chapter information for PARMA, updates about the conference and resources to make your life easier but also a place to allow other PARMA members to post their meetings and white papers.  Speakers can promote the sessions they will be presenting at both Chapter Meetings and the Annual Conference, AND it will be easier than before to actually reach out and make connections with other PARMA members.  It also provides a forum for group discussions, news feeds and messaging.

There are also levels of access after logging in:

PARMA Members have full access to everything in the PARMACommunity.  You can post meetings, make contacts, participate in group discussions, send/receive messages, take surveys and access/download/post resources.  There will also be new features rolled out as the Community grows.

Non-Members will be able to view posted meetings, group discussions, resources, and surveys.

What to do First?

Click on the Community link, log in and create a profile for yourself. Then explore. Look up other members with the search box and invite them to link to you. Set your permissions so that you have set up when you want to get notifications. This is the NEW LOOK of PARMA!

There are two types of members in PARMA. The first are Regular members, and the second are Associate members. No member shall hold more than one membership in the organization.

Any public agency as specified in the California Government Code or similar laws in other states shall be qualified to become a Regular member of PARMA. Regular members may vote and be elected to the Board of Directors. No member may transfer a membership or any rights arising from membership. The Board of Directors may grant individual lifetime memberships.

Dues for Public Entity Memberships are currently $300 per fiscal year and for Associate members $450 per fiscal year (the PARMA fiscal year is July 1 - June 30). The individual employees of a member firm receive the benefits of the entities membership.

Applicants shall be admitted to membership upon making application and upon payment of the membership dues. The membership is nonassessable.

The Associate members are comprised of all public and private entities, which do not qualify as a public agency under the California Government Code or similar laws in other states. These members are usually providers of services to Regular members, such as law firms, insurance brokers and agents, third party administrators, and other similar services connected with the provision of risk management to public agencies.

The Associate members have the same rights and privileges as Regular members, with the exceptions of the right to vote or to hold office.

PARMA Associate Membership Value Proposition

PARMA Associate Membership delivers meaningful value through cost savings, professional visibility, and access to high-quality education.
