SB 1127 – Best Practices for Claim Investigations and Settlements
SB 1127 took effect January 1, 2023. It increases the maximum leave time from 104 weeks to 240 weeks that public safety employees with a cancer illness, reduces the time period from 90 to 75 days for an employer to deny liability for a workers' compensation claim for specified presumptive injuries, and increases the penalty when liability has been unreasonably rejected for claims of injury or illness.
