Speaker Name:  Kate McDonell, Chivaroli & Associates

Synopsis:  Kate McDonell has 8 years of commercial insurance and risk management consulting experience.  She currently serves as an Assistant Vice President with Chivaroli & Associates delivering specific focus on Governmental Healthcare Districts, and a variety Public Entity / Not-for-Profit Health Care Agencies.   Kate works closely with Agency Administrators and Risk Managers in identifying unique risk exposures and shares her knowledge of best practices when it comes to retaining risk versus transferring risk through a broad scope of insurance policies.

Whether you are organizing a small, informal fundraising dinner or a large awards ceremony; these special events carry inherent exposures that could result in large dollar personal property losses or surprise liability claims against your organization.  The ability to identify where your organization does and does not maintain control will be the first step in protecting your assets.  Ensuring you are provided proper protection by your vendors and hosts will help mitigate the direct risk to your organization. Another important factor will be the implementation of best risk management practices to ensure safety and security and finally properly identifying those risks which fall outside of your control that are best covered by an insurance carrier.

Speaker Name:   Tara Carruth, MSW

Synopsis: Tara Carruth is the Ventura County Continuum of Care Program Manager in the County Executive Office. Since 2014, Tara has managed local, state and federal funding for homeless assistance programs and worked collaboratively to improve the countywide homeless services system. She has over 15 years of experience in non-profit, healthcare, research and social services. Her work has focused on improving systems of care for vulnerable populations.

Homelessness is a complex issue facing communities across California. Ventura County much like other California communities has seen a nearly 50% increase in unsheltered homelessness over the past two years. This session will provide an overview of the state of homelessness in Ventura County, the strategies being employed, and the challenges associated with developing solutions to address these complex issues.

Speaker Name: Jonathan Light

Synopsis: Jon Light has more than 30 years of experience in the field of employment law, As the managing attorney at LightGabler, Jon and his team members consult with over 1,500 companies throughout California regarding their day-to-day employment law needs. Jon has successful jury trial, court trial, appellate, Labor Commission and binding arbitration results in lawsuits and administrative claims involving discrimination, harassment, class action, wage and hour, and other employment related matters.
