POSITION SUMMARY
Senior Risk Control Specialist is responsible for providing professional services in the areas of risk management associated with health and safety, tort liability, public property and any other areas of risk as may be required to support internal and external customers (members). The purpose of this work is to proactively support the prevention of injury to internal & external customers and/or the public, protect property, and assist in the control of tort liability exposures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Represent a positive image to members, vendors, and the general public
• Problem solve. Professional consultation; work directly with members to address risk concerns
• Create resources, including online course scripts, guidance documents, blog posts, training resources, best practices, and other resources as needed or requested
• Craft and deliver presentations to include live webcasts; on-site (in person) sessions; or, pre-recorded webcasts
• Support PRISM internal health and safety policies/practices
• Maintain healthy working relationships with PRISM Partners (Brokers, TPAs, Reinsurers, Service Providers, etc.)
• Manage vendor contracts
• Stay abreast of emerging loss and regulatory trends. Analyze member and program loss data to better understand potential risks
• Serve as a technical/regulatory subject matter expert (SME)
• Perform independent research. Identify and recommend new services/resources
• Coordinate, facilitate and participate in other events, including symposiums, regional presentations, forums, and podcasts
• Collaborate with other Specialists to include peer review
• Participate in Focus Groups and collaborate with other industry SMEs to explore new service opportunities
• Provide guidance and development opportunities for Risk Control Specialist and Clerical positions
• Deliver “on-site” services such as but not limited to: risk assessments, committee meeting support, process evaluation, etc.
• Offer a risk control perspective to various PRISM Committees and the Board
• Assist PRISM customers with program/policy development and implementation
• Attend PRISM meetings as required. May be called upon to develop/present agenda items
• Travel to member sites to provide consultation/support which may include overnight stays
• Maintain a working knowledge of Office software and PRISM technology
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in directly related field, with 5 years’ experience in a directly related field, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform position requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field and 10 years’ of related experience in the areas of safety management, risk management, risk and safety consulting, policy development, training delivery, and data analysis. Public risk pooling industry experience is desirable but not required. Related certifications such as CSP, ASP, SMP, and ARM are preferred. Experience using AI tools to develop resources.
For approximately the first week following hire, selected candidate will report to our Folsom office daily for training. After successful completion of training, selected candidate will have the option to work full time in our Folsom office, or remotely from a home location within a commutable distance from our Folsom, CA office, or a hybrid of both options. Candidates must be able and willing to report in person to our Folsom location when required which is generally 2 to 3 times per month, but could change based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements of this position typically include: reaching, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move.
This position requires a significant amount of travel. Though the travel volume varies from week to week, travel may be as often as 2-3 times per week with overnight stays, driving and airline travel included. On average the position requires travel about 25% of the time, but some weeks may be closer to 50% of the time.
Candidates must possess a valid California Drivers License.
