Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in risk management, insurance, business or public administration, or a closely related field, and three years of professional-level experience in risk management, industrial safety, loss prevention, claims administration or municipal administration. Certification by the Insurance Institute of America as an Associate in Risk Management may be substituted for one year of experience.
