Job Description

The California Joint Powers Insurance Authority seeks a Technology Projects Manager to join its dynamic, motivated staff. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in: Managing complex IT projects, leveraging technology for business process automation, and overseeing software development and integration.

The successful candidate will also use data to help move innovative projects forward. The Technology Projects Manager will coordinate the selection and implementation of technology projects for the Authority. This position will be at the forefront of aligning the organization’s technology needs with current and future goals, while also meeting the technological needs of staff. This role requires significant experience in defining project scope, developing, and managing project schedules, budgets, and resources.

The Technology Projects Manager will maintain the Authority’s current software platforms, including Ventiv, CVENT, Cornerstone on Demand, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing, and JW File Handler, allowing staff to maximize the benefits of existing software while identifying emerging technology that could help the Authority pursue its mission more effectively. This position will also spearhead a technology committee to continue the Authority’s strong tradition of providing state-of-the-art, innovative programs, and services to members while adopting new technologies beneficial to staff and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, capable of making independent decisions, solving problems, and implementing effective project management strategies.

Job Requirements

Education
Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in the supervision and implementation of technology projects. Project management professional (PMP certification) is highly desired. Public entity risk pooling and/or public sector experience is highly desired.

Experience
The position of Technology Projects Manager requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in project management, business administration, computer science, information technology, public administration, or a related field.
