Job Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Examine and adjudicate Public Entity Liability claims involving; GL, auto, property damage losses. Provide settlement recommendations to client. Handle litigation claims to resolution. Specific duties outlined below to include but not limited to: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Evaluate claims for knowledge of government code immunity, compliance, denial, subrogation, and investigation of issues surrounding loss. Request all required documentation from all parties involved. • Maintain a current daily/weekly diary of all liability claims, statutory deadlines, and/or payments. • Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation on all active claims in the electronic computer claims system. • Review and evaluates for adequacy all reserves and possible closure at 30 to 90 day intervals. • With Liability Manager/client approval, make referral to Defense Attorney, while continuing to exercise financial and issue control over claim. • Negotiate settlements based on authority levels including settlement of liens. • Prepare and present, claim status reports to active clients, including attending any presentations. • Monitor all claims for excess retention limits. Make timely initial/ongoing reports to excess carriers. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • 1 to 3 years Public Entity Liability Adjusting experience • Strong oral and written communication skills • Computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint • Current driver’s license in good standing and appropriate auto insurance Environmental conditions: Indoors, temperature controlled, sealed window office multiple story building. • There may be exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather. • There may be extremely short term exposure to conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation, that affect the respiratory system, eyes or, the skin • There may be the normal exposure to the hazards of construction sites, e.g. construction equipment, uneven floor surfaces, falling objects or other obstacles. • There may be exposure to traffic conditions • Time is spent in the office, either a home office set-up, or an office environment. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to operate a vehicle, tools for a field inspection (ladder, tape measure, recorder, camera), sit and talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee spends a large portion of their time using a computer and or laptop. The employee is required to walk and stand up to 50% of the time. Must be able to fly when required - to conduct investigations. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May reach and squat occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
