Manager, Human Resources Partner and Risk Management provides support to CharterSAFE and our members throughout California by providing consultative Human Resources assistance in a wide range of topics including employee relations, leaves of absence, and compliance and risk management assistance including safety and loss control to our members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Respond to member email and phone communications to triage Human Resources questions including but not limited to assistance with federal/California/local California jurisdiction leaves of absence, hire/termination, wage-and-hour, disability accommodation, performance management, discipline and documentation.
• Productive in a fast-paced role with expectations of empathetic customer service and strive to resond to member inquiries within one business day.
• Assist with the development of Human Resources and Risk Management materials. Assist with training workshops, presentations, and webinars.
• Support members at their physical locations throughout California as needed.
• Participate in the development of department goals, objectives, and systems.
• Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings/seminars/conferences as needed.
• Consult with members relating to school risk management questions, (e.g. field trips, special events, transportation, vendors, volunteers, fundraising, student activities, athletics, etc.)
• Review loss control reports, evaluations, and invoices. Make recommendations to members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
• Three to five years of Human Resources experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Knowledge
• Working knowledge of Human Resources skills at the federal, California, and local California jurisdiction level including leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, pregnancy, and workers' compensation), reasonable accommodations/disability process, hire/termination, employee relations, investigations, HRIS/Payroll systems and processes, and/or other traditional human resources administrative and organizational duties.
• Basic knowledge of enterprise risk management principles and how they are applied within a school environment.

• Strong and professional presence. Ability to earn the trust and the respect of the staff working for CharterSAFE members. Ability to visit school campuses throughout California and assess member needs. Ability to act with integrity and confidentiality.

• Strong ability to protect the interest of the CharterSAFE membership.
Physical Standards
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer including reaching, fine manual dexterity, pushing/pulling, talking/hearing, near and far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Occasional standing and walking.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
• Home office work environment which is quiet, private, and distraction-free. Reliable high-speed internet connection.
• Ability to access and navigate the physical environment at each member’s location/facility.
Work Environment
• Besides working at a home office, this position may work in a variety of other settings when traveling to CharterSAFE member locations and conferences or other meetings.
• Potential hazards include contact with dissatisfied individuals.
