About the Role Are you passionate about ensuring employees receive the care they need after a workplace injury? As a Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner, you will play a critical role in initiating new injury claims and processing medical-only claims with precision and efficiency. Reporting to the Director of Workers’ Compensation, you’ll collaborate with Trindel staff, Member County personnel, healthcare providers, and injured employees to ensure accurate claims handling while maintaining compliance with state regulations and organizational best practices. Key Responsibilities • Initiate & Manage Claims – Evaluate First Reports of Injury, ensuring timely and accurate processing of new claims. • Ensure Compliance – Process medical-only injury claims from start to closure while adhering to state regulations and Trindel’s best practices. • Support Recovery Efforts – Authorize appropriate medical treatments within your authority level to support employee health and return-to-work efforts. • Provide Claims Adjusting Support – Work closely with the Workers’ Compensation Director and Claims Adjuster to manage cases effectively. • Monitor & Optimize Case Inventory – Proactively track, finalize, and control an inventory of medical-only claims to streamline resolution. • Guide Stakeholders – Serve as a trusted resource for Member Counties, injured employees, and healthcare providers. • Stay Ahead of Industry Changes – Keep informed of updates in workers’ compensation regulations, court rulings, and best practices to enhance claims handling. • Protect Confidentiality – Handle private and proprietary information with the highest level of discretion. • Support Organizational Goals – Ensure that the Fund’s mission of exceptional customer service is upheld in every interaction. What We’re Looking For • Solid understanding of California Workers’ Compensation laws and case management strategies. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex claims. • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Your Background • 3+ years of experience handling workers’ compensation medical-only and indemnity claims. • WCCA preferred or ability to pass SIP exam within 6 months. • Experience with public entities is preferred but not required. • Two-year college degree preferred but not mandatory.
