The City of Hanford is a full service municipal city in the central valley, where tradition meets innovation.
This position performs technical level duties in varied areas of human resources, specifically in risk management. Provide support to the Human Resources Manager and HR/Risk Analysts processing various components of the City’s safety, risk management, regulatory compliance, accident prevention programs and assists in creating and/or proctoring related trainings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Practices and procedures of human resources administration with an emphasis on risk management.
Recordkeeping and records retention systems.
City government operations, functions, and relevant laws and regulations
Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment.
Basic statistical and mathematical methods.
Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to:
Perform a variety of technical work in support of human resources functions.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information of applicants, employees, former employees, and other matters affecting HR/Risk.
Intermittently review and evaluate documents related to department operations; observe, identify, and problem-solve office operations and procedures; understand, interpret, and explain department policies and procedures; explain operations and problem-solve issues for the public and with staff.
Continuously sit at a desk for long periods or stand at a public counter; intermittently twist to reach equipment surrounding the desk; perform simple grasping and fine manipulation; use a telephone; write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; and lift or carry a weight of 10 pounds or less.
Work simultaneously on a variety of projects while adhering to established timelines.
Collect, compile, and present various data and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Maintain detailed and accurate records, review forms and reports for accuracy.
Use sound judgment in recognizing the scope of authority.
Operate and use modern office equipment, including computers and applicable software.
Maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities.
Utilize appropriate safety procedures and practices for assigned duties.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Use tact, diplomacy, and courtesy to effectively relate to people of varied academic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Experience:
Two years of responsible technical human resources/risk management experience in a related function.
Education:
Equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in business management, human resources, or a related field.
