Job Title: Worker's Compensation & Disability Retirement Manager

Job Description 

The County of Ventura’s County Executive Office is seeking a Worker's Compensation & Disability Retirement Manager. The Worker's Compensation and Disability Manager reports to the Senior Deputy Executive Officer-County Risk Manager and serves as the County's subject matter expert regarding worker's compensation and disability retirement. The incumbent is the County's key contact with third party administrators (TPAs) and Worker's Compensation defense attorneys; identifies cost drivers to coordinate services and provide direction aimed at managing medical care, consults with departments and return to work coordinators; monitors claims status and other claim factors which affect the program such as litigation and budget issues; authorizes settlements, directs claim outcomes, makes recommendations related to disability retirement; and is the overall manager of the County's self-insured worker's compensation program.

Job Requirements 

Education/Experience: The required minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities can also be demonstrated by four (4) or more years of current experience managing Workers' Compensation programs within a large organization; OR completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Public Administration, Occupational Safety and Health, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Communications, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of current professional experience in the administration and management of Worker's Compensation programs for a large organization with supervisor or manager responsibilities.

Worker's Compensation experience within the public sector and certification in Worker's Compensation Claims Administration are highly desired and may be used as additional screening factors. Considerable administrative, supervisory, and/or management experience, Worker's Compensation and experience in Disability Retirement is also desirable.
