Job Title: Risk Manager

Job Description 

To manage and supervise the administration of the County’s risk management programs which include general liability, worker’s compensation, disability, malpractice, property and casualty; oversight of the County Safety Program; provide responsible and technical staff assistance to County Counsel.

This is a non-competitive classification which is appointed by and serves at the will of the County Counsel. Responsibilities include the direct and indirect supervision of administrative, technical and clerical support staff.

Job Requirements 

First Review of Applications: March 31, 2023

Education: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, risk management, or a closely related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in public agency risk management administration, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.

Experience Equivalency: Five (5) years of risk management experience in private industry.

DESIRABLE EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a certificate of competency as issued by the Manager, Self-Insurance Plans, California Department of Industrial Relations; other industry related certifications such as an Associate in Risk Management, or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter.
