THE RISK MANAGEMENT DIVISION

The Risk Division partners with the city and Fire District to create a safe environment for all our Team RC employees. From workers' compensation, public liability, general insurance, City and special event insurance, contracts, and safety awareness and training, including compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and employee wellness programs. You’ll be responsible for:
Strategizing with the Risk Manager to develop city-wide safety and injury prevention programs.
Develop city-wide safety policies. Including the Injury Illness Prevention Program.
Perform pop-up worksite safety inspections.
Develops, designs, and presents safety and training programs in compliance with Occupational Safety Health Act (OSHA) law or other related industry requirements.
Responds to OSHA complaints and/or violations.
Collaborates with departments to ensure mandatory training is completed in a timely manner.
Monitors employee driving records through the DMV pull program (A-Check Global) and provides appropriate follow-up to the departments.
Conduct accident investigations and inspect accident scenes to determine cause, effect, liability, and prevention methods; prepares and review accident reports.
Manages and tracks mandatory trainings in NEOGOV, and Vector Solutions.
Participate in the planning and execution of popular special events for Team RC.

Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in occupational health, industrial hygiene, business administration, public administration, or a related field; and four years of experience in occupational health safety programs, including conducting accident or safety investigations or designing and conducting employee safety and injury prevention training programs. Risk management experience in a medium to large scale agency, including one year of supervisory experience or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of principles, practices, methods and techniques of safety and training program development, implementation and administration; Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and standards for employee health and safety; practices and methods for developing and administering a comprehensive safety program; accident prevention and investigation programs, including safety inspection practices and procedures; techniques to identify unsafe conditions and make appropriate recommendation for corrections; methods and practices for conducting accident and workplace safety audits and investigations; Citywide safety programs and safety practices; City and Department operations and associated safety issues; research methods and statistical analysis techniques; practices and methods in designing training programs; project administration; office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and applicable software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Operate a computer and standard business software and equipment.
Ability to effectively design, develop, implement and administer comprehensive safety training and injury prevention programs; understand, interpret, and apply Citywide and departmental codes, policies, and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations; effectively communicate orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, outside agencies, and internal customers; conduct accident and workplace safety investigations risk and develop programs to reduce risk;
develop and conduct employee safety training programs; establish and maintain effective record keeping systems; prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive investigative reports and other materials; conduct complex research projects; work independently and as part of a team; make sound decisions within established guidelines; analyze complex issues and effectively solve problems; exercise sound independent judgment and initiative within policy guidelines.
