California Joint Powers Risk Management Authority

The California Joint Powers Risk Management Authority is dedicated to maintaining a commitment to excellence in the protection of its member entities from catastrophic liability and other financial losses. The CJPRMA programs provide coverage for cyber, drone, pollution, excess liability, property, boiler and machinery, and auto physical damage. Under the Excess Liability Program, $40 million in coverage is provided. Members can select retained limits of either $500,000 or $1 million. Under the Property Program, participants are provided with $400 million in coverage. Additional services are provided to the members through the Risk Management Program. These services include a wide variety of training programs, audits of facilities and programs, and extensive consultation services. The CJPRMA Risk Management Program is designed to supplement and enhance existing member programs in order to increase their level of effectiveness.

Job Description 

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned management professional who is skilled in public agency risk-sharing pool Joint Powers Authority (JPA) administration. This position will play a key role in the Board adopted succession plan for the pending retirement of the General Manager in the late fall of 2018.

This knowledgeable, enthusiastic and results-oriented leader will be a critical thinker with outstanding visionary and problem-solving qualities.

Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in a field directly related to the position and ten years of experience, five years of which are at a management level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job is expected. ARM certification and/or Master’s or Law degree is highly desirable.

Annual salary ranges from $116,767 to $155,690 and is supplemented by an attractive benefit package that includes CalPERS retirement.
