Job Title: Director of Human Resources & Risk Management
The Director of Human Resources & Risk Management is under administrative direction from the City Administrator and plans, directs and reviews the activities and operations of the Human Resources and Risk Management Department including: classification, compensation, recruitment, selection, labor relations (seven bargaining groups), affirmative action, employee development, workers' compensation and general liability administration. To coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Administrator.
Six years of progressively responsible experience in all areas of human resources including three years at management level. Experience working with employee associations or unions and/or prior experience working for a public agency is preferred. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources, business or public administration or related field. Current International Public Management Association Senior Certified Professional (IPMA-SCP) certification is desirable. A valid California Class C drivers' license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance program.
