Job Title: Claims Adjuster (Official Title: Risk Analyst)
Salary: $4500 - $5447/mo.
The City of Fresno Personnel Services Department is searching for a dedicated, responsive, and conscientious individual to join their team as a Risk Analyst.
In this capacity, a Risk Analyst provides excellent customer service to the public and City staff by performing a variety of professional, analytical and administrative activities in support of the City's comprehensive risk management and loss control program. Duties require the knowledge and application of various laws, rules and regulations related to insurance, personal injury, liability and property claims procedures and practices; and the ability to apply conflict resolution techniques.
The ideal incumbent should possess the interest, drive and ability to operate efficiently within a fast paced environment.
One vacancy currently exists in the Personnel Services Department.

These are entrance requirements to the competitive examination and do not assure a place on the eligible list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field;
- Two years of experience in loss control, risk management, workers' compensation, insurance underwriting, or employee safety. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Public agency/governmental claims adjustment experience is highly desirable.
Riskmaster experience is preferred.
This position requires possession and continued maintenance of a valid California Driver's License. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.
The examination process may consist of the following:
APPLICATION REVIEW - Qualifying Only: Applications submitted will be reviewed and a limited number of the most qualified candidates may be invited to the oral examination. The selection will be based upon those applications which demonstrate the greatest breadth and depth of applicable education, experience, skills and training. Therefore, applicants are urged to submit sufficiently detailed information in their application materials.
ORAL EXAMINATION (100%) - A panel of subject matter experts will conduct a job related interview to evaluate a candidate's suitability, training, experience, and personal traits for the position. Candidates must achieve a passing score in the oral exam to qualify for the eligible list. Panel Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of May 8, 2017.
Eligibles certified for consideration for this position will be required to successfully pass a Department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint process prior to employment with the City of Fresno.
Qualified veterans who pass the examination may obtain five (5) additional points.
Candidates applying for veteran's preference are required to submit a copy of their DD214 with their application during the specified filing period. Evidence must be presented to indicate that the candidate was discharged honorably from the military service. Veterans, including City employees, must resubmit proof of honorable service for every examination for which veteran's preference credit is requested.
